Build a Career. Learn a Trade. Enjoy Your Life.

Ever thought about learning a skilled trade but didn’t want to spend years in school?

At Steinegg Cabinets, we believe some of the best craftspeople learn by doing. We’re looking for a motivated individual who wants to build a long-term career in cabinet manufacturing.

No previous cabinet-making or manufacturing experience is necessary. We’ll provide the training, tools, and guidance you need to develop your skills.

Over time, you’ll learn the same practical skills and techniques used by experienced cabinet makers, from traditional woodworking to modern CNC manufacturing.

And because we believe life outside of work matters, we operate on a 4-day, 40-hour workweek, giving you three days off every week to explore the Kootenays, pursue your hobbies, or simply enjoy more time with family and friends.

About Us

Steinegg Cabinets is a professional cabinet manufacturing shop in Nelson, BC. We design, manufacture, and install custom cabinetry and architectural millwork, including kitchens, vanities, closets, furniture, and commercial projects.

We combine traditional craftsmanship with modern manufacturing technology, including CNC machinery and specialized woodworking equipment.

We’re a small, hands-on team that takes pride in the quality of our work. We believe in continuous improvement, efficiency, and helping our team members develop their skills.

What You’ll Learn & Do

You’ll start with the fundamentals and gradually take on more responsibility as your confidence and abilities grow.

  • Learn to manufacture and assemble high-quality custom cabinets
  • Operate woodworking equipment and machinery under supervision
  • Learn to use CNC machinery, edge banders, and other modern manufacturing equipment
  • Read and understand shop drawings, measurements, and specifications
  • Work with different materials, including plywood, melamine, MDF, and wood veneers
  • Install cabinet hardware, drawers, hinges, and other components
  • Learn proper assembly techniques, quality control, and finishing preparation
  • Assist with custom furniture and specialty millwork projects
  • Maintain an organized, clean, and safe work environment
  • Develop problem-solving skills and learn how to work efficiently as part of a team

As your skills progress, you’ll have opportunities to work more independently and take on increasingly complex projects.

What We’re Looking For

Experience is not required. Attitude matters more.

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Enjoys working with their hands and creating things
  • Has a willingness to learn and develop new skills
  • Takes pride in doing quality work
  • Pays attention to detail and values accuracy
  • Has a positive attitude and works well with others
  • Is dependable, punctual, and takes responsibility for their work
  • Can follow instructions and work safely around machinery
  • Is comfortable with the physical demands of a manufacturing environment
  • Is interested in building a long-term career, not just finding a temporary job

Previous woodworking, construction, or manufacturing experience is an asset, but absolutely not required.

No trade certification or formal apprenticeship enrolment is necessary.
